LAPD Cruisers Go Airborne and Cause Mid Air Landing

May 26, 2010 - to reports a crash involving two Los Angeles Police Department officers sends patrol car in mid air landing on parked vehicles.

The accident occurred at approximately 11:00 a.m. on May 21st in South Los Angeles at the intersection of Florence Avenue and Vermont Ave.

According to reports the patrol car was responding to a back-up call at the time of the accident with their lights and siren. The police vehicle was cut off by a red car at the intersection and the officer swerved to avoid a collision causing the police car to strike the curb.

Hitting the curb caused the vehicle to go air-bound, where it crashed through a brick wall and into an iron fence before landing on top of two parked cars.
The cars were parked in a shopping center parking lot and were empty at the time the police vehicle landed on them.

The officers have not been identified and were transported to an area hospital and said to have sustained minor injuries according to officials. The driver of the red vehicle has not been charged in the accident and the investigation is ongoing.

Child Struck While Crossing Street By Hit and Run Driver

May 24, 2010 (by Horatio Algren) According to reports by Anaheim personal injury attorneys, a 4 year old child was struck by a vehicle while crossing the street, that left the scene.

According to Anaheim Police Sgt. Rick Martinez police were called at approximately 8:45 p.m. that a hit and run accident occurred involving the child. The accident according to Sgt. Martinez occurred in the 900 block of North Topeka Street and La Palma Avenue. The 4 year old boy and his 14 year old sister were crossing the street to their home when the accident happened.

The boy sustained abrasions to his face in the hit and run accident, he taken to the hospital and released. The children were playing with a group of friends and were going to cross the street with them to their home, when they saw a vehicle headed north on Topeka. The 14 year old girl and her brother crossed the street. The rest of the group of children waited to cross the street.

While running across the street, according to Sgt. Martinez the car identified as a dark colored sedan brushed the boy from the side. Sgt. Martinez stated the driver stopped and asked if the children were alright, and the 14 year old told the driver to pull over to the side of the street, the driver instead drove away.

The driver of the dark colored sedan has been described as having dark skin, with a beard and mustache. The driver according to the Anaheim Police could face misdemeanor hit and run charges.

Teen in Coma After Single Car Crash

May 10, 2010 9by Horatio Algren) According to reports a teen is reportedly in a coma after a single car crash over the weekend. The teen 16 year old was a passenger in a vehicle that crashed Saturday after the 20 year old driver lost control. The teen, according to reports, sustained head trauma and broken bones and is in a coma, according to Mission Hospital Pediatric ICU.

The single car accident took place according to Lake Forest Sheriff’s Sgt. Dan Walsh southbound on Saddleback Ranch Road, near Glenn Ranch Road when the vehicle a 2001 Toyota jumped the curb and struck a wall. The crash according to Sgt. Walsh occurred at approximately 3:30 a.m. the deputy also stated teen was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

The teen sustained multiple serious injuries, broken bones and is in a coma, the driver and two other passengers complained of back pain. Kuglin was transported to CHOC Children’s at Mission Hospital.

According to Lake Forests Sheriff’s Deputy Richard Nelson the police are investigating whether alcohol was a factor in the accident and the OCSD Major Accident Reconstruction Team is investigating the single car accident.
