GM Recalling 109,000 Cadillac’s and Trucks

December 23, 2010. According to reports GM is recalling 109,000 Cadillac’s and trucks for two different issues. The GM Cadillac CTS models that are being recalled are from 2007 through 2009 due to an issue that prevent the front passenger airbag from deploying in an accident.

According to GM stated there can be a , kink, bend or fold in the front passenger presence sensor. When the airbag becomes disabled the status indicator on the rear view mirror will show the airbag is off, the airbag indicator will be illuminated and the service airbag message will appear.

GM said that in the event of an accident that would cause the airbag to activate and it does not, the injuries could be more severe. They also stated there have been no reports of injuries due to this issue.

GM is recalling 1,200, 2011 Cadillac Escalade EXT, Chevrolet Avalance, Silverado LD and GMC Sierra LD vehicles. These vehicles are being recalled due to an issue with the rear axle, according to the National Highway Safety Administration.

GM stated the vehicles are being recalled due to the rear axle cross pin that might fracture or shift out of position. This could lead to the axle locking and causing the driver to lose control of the vehicle.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration the axle if the pin shits could cause the axle to lock up.
