June 22, 2010 (by Horatio Algren) According to reports police are searching for witnesses to a Garden Grove hit and run that injured a 76 year old man.
The accident according to Garden Grove police occurred at approximately 10:13 p.m. that involved a pedestrian and motor vehicle. The accident occurred in the vicinity of Chapman Avenue and Haster Street in the eastbound lanes.
The man that was found by police struck by a vehicle has been identified as Ricardo Colacion of Mexico, whose family was located and notified.
According to the Garden Grove Police, Colacion sustained serious injuries in the accident and was transported to UCI Medical Center and listed in critical, but stable condition.
Colacion was crossing Chapman Avenue according to police when 19 year old Angelica Gomez of Anaheim was driving east and saw Colacion, but was unable to avoid hitting him.
Police stated drugs or alcohol do not appear to have contributed to the accident.
Chapman Avenue was closed about three hours while police investigated the scene of the accident, which remains under investigation. Police are asking for witnesses with any information to contact them.
According to reports there have been no citations issued.
