Child Struck While Crossing Street By Hit and Run Driver

May 24, 2010 (by Horatio Algren) According to reports by Anaheim personal injury attorneys, a 4 year old child was struck by a vehicle while crossing the street, that left the scene.

According to Anaheim Police Sgt. Rick Martinez police were called at approximately 8:45 p.m. that a hit and run accident occurred involving the child. The accident according to Sgt. Martinez occurred in the 900 block of North Topeka Street and La Palma Avenue. The 4 year old boy and his 14 year old sister were crossing the street to their home when the accident happened.

The boy sustained abrasions to his face in the hit and run accident, he taken to the hospital and released. The children were playing with a group of friends and were going to cross the street with them to their home, when they saw a vehicle headed north on Topeka. The 14 year old girl and her brother crossed the street. The rest of the group of children waited to cross the street.

While running across the street, according to Sgt. Martinez the car identified as a dark colored sedan brushed the boy from the side. Sgt. Martinez stated the driver stopped and asked if the children were alright, and the 14 year old told the driver to pull over to the side of the street, the driver instead drove away.

The driver of the dark colored sedan has been described as having dark skin, with a beard and mustache. The driver according to the Anaheim Police could face misdemeanor hit and run charges.
