Three Year Old Child Dies After Bel Air Swimming Pool Accident

August 31, 2009 (Horatio Algren) According to reports by a swimming pool injury attorney, a three year old child died after a swimming pool accident in Bel Air.

The three year old child was pronounced dead at UCLA Medical Center, after the swimming accident and after attempts by the child’s family members attempted to revive him while waiting for rescue crews to arrive.

According to retired paramedic Bill Ramsey, the child did not get the chance he deserved, since the closing of the neighborhoods fire and rescue services. The call was routed to another fire department according to Los Angeles Fire Department dispatch records.

The emergency crews from this station had been called out less than two minutes prior to the swimming pool drowning call, which meant the next station was alerted taking more than 10 minutes to arrive to the location where the family was attempting to revive the child.

L.A. Police Question LeAnn Rimes In Hit and Run


August 22, 2009 (by Horatio Algren) According to reports country singer LeAnn Rimes was questioned by the Los Angeles police after allegedly being involved in a hit and run accident.

The two time Grammy winner is suspected of driving a 2009 Audi Q5 and striking the back end of a 2006 BMW X5 that was at a stop in a left turning lane in the vicinity of the 11000 block of Montana Avenue according to reports.

Rimes was questioned at her home by the West Traffic Division after the accident that occurred at approximately 7:45 p.m. Thursday. It is unclear whether police have enough evidence for pursue the case in which there were no injuries and only minor damage to the vehicles to forward their findings to the Los Angeles City Attorneys Office.

Father of Boy Injured At Swimming pool Files Suit Against Union City

August 17, 2009 (by Horatio Algren) According to reports the father of a teen injured at an Indiana swimming pool has file suit over the injuries.

The man identified as Brandon Flowers filed the claim stating that there was negligence that caused his son to become seriously injured. According to the lawsuit the 13 year old boy was injured after his swimming suit became tangled in the grate at the bottom of the swimming pool located in Union City.

The injuries were not specified in the suit that has been filed, but the lifeguard had to pull the teen out of the swimming pool, and he was then airlifted to a hospital in Dayton Ohio.

The lawsuit claims that the city was negligent in maintaining the grate and the personnel at the pool did not supervise the boy properly. The suit was filed in Randolph Superior Court, by Flowers.

Matrix Initiatives Admits Side Effect Study Not Done For Anosmia

According to reports by Zicam injury lawyers, the company manufactures the recently recalled nasal medicine Zicam, Matrixx Initiatives has admitted their studies on the cold remedy did not include sense of smell.

The studies that were done in testing to determine if the zinc compound would be harmful sprayed into the nasal passages done on animals and humans did not include whether it could cause loss of sense of smell. The company stands by their products stating the tests determined the product safe.

They will now begin animal and human testing to determine if it is harmful enough to cause some people to lose their sense of smell.

According to doctors at the University of Colorado taste and smell clinic they state the amount patients have increased in patients that have used a Zicam intranasal gel, which the FDA has recently warned people not to use cold remedy. Dr. Bruce Jafek has documented cases around the country of people that have used the Matrix Initiative cold remedy and suffered the side effect of losing their sense of smell and other issues.

In February the makers of Zicam formed a medical advisory panel after complaints were lodged a new study findings are expected to be available in approximately 12 months.

Health officials are concerned that the products will not be removed from market shelves while the additional studies are being done, and that consumers might continue the use of these products prior to the outcome of these studies.

According to reports a company representative status that until the studies are finished consumers mobile to make your own decision whether to use products or not.

Zicam company makes other products including lozenges and other cold remedies that were not included in the Food and Drug Administration is warning. Three products that were included in the FDA's warning were nasal spray and swabs.
