According to reports by Los Angeles personal injury lawyers, a wrong way crash took the lives of two people and shutdown the eastbound lanes of the I-10 Freeway in Los Angeles West Side. One of the deceased was a Culver City Police Officer and the other is reportedly a 21 year old man from Van Nuys.
The crash occurred in the vicinity of National Boulevard when according to California Highway Patrol Officer Miguel Luevano, a silver sedan traveling in the wrong direction struck the officer who was driving east. The crash engulfed at least one of the vehicles in flames. Officer Luevano stated the accident occurred ay approximately 5:00 a.m. and the officer was driving a four door Dodge Charger. It was not reported if the officer was working at the time of the crash, but the vehicle is one that is often used as an unmarked vehicle.
Police were called by a motorist who is a radio reporter, Pete Demetriou that saw the vehicle traveling in the wrong direction at approximately 65 miles per hour at about 4:55 a.m.
The crash closed the eastbound lanes and one westbound lane of the I-10 also known as the Santa Monica Freeway and closed at the 405 Freeway.
